The 2nd Annual Water For People Picnic Fundraiser was a success, raising more than $3,500 for Water For People. Held in Dearborn, Michigan on June 3, 2011, the event gathered more than 20 professionals in the water community, enabling discussion about the world's lack of access to clean drinking water and adequate sanitary conditions.

All funds raised at the picnic will benefit Water For People, a global nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing safe drinking water and sanitation to people in developing countries. The goal of the organization is to create a world where no one suffers or dies from a water- or sanitation-related disease. Founded in 1991 by the American Water Works Association (AWWA), the organization now works in 11 developing countries in Asia, Africa, Central America, and South America.

Organized by CDM, the event was sponsored by several local Michigan businesses: Duperon Corporation, FHMason, Kennedy Industries Inc., Law Office of Reem Khraizat, Peerless-Midwest Inc., Saginaw Bay Underwriters, Warren Chiropractic & Rehab, and Yates Industries Inc.

"This event started out as an idea, and has turned into an annual tradition," relayed Ali Khraizat, CDM environmental engineer and the event's organizer. "The magnitude of this cause may be colossal, but with people and organizations around the world working together, some day everyone will have access to clean drinking water and safe sanitary conditions. This event may be a small contribution to a big cause, but it is a large contribution to a small community."
